Full Description

As an apprentice site supervisor, you will assist the Site Manager in the day to day control and delivery of construction projects to meet customer specifications (quality, time, cost, etc.) such that all risks are controlled and specification is delivered to programme and budget. 
You will be a valued member of the team and receive high quality mentoring from experienced colleagues and the opportunity to pursue academic qualifications.

This Construction Built Environment Apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity to understand, appreciate and begin your career in a Technical Construction role. You need to be prepared to learn and comprehend the mechanics of working in the industry to be successful in your role. 

This opportunity requires you to be part of a team, to demonstrate self-discipline and be able to receive and follow instructions accurately and methodically. You will report to the Site Manager and be expected to work to targets and deadlines. 



Responsibilities: 
• Ensures safe working practices and HS&E procedures are fully implemented across site. 
• Manage the day to day delivery of construction projects. 
• Liaise with the Senior Site Management to ensure that they are fully appraised of the project progress and are notified of all financial, specification and time issues / risks. 
• Ensure that all materials delivered to site meet specification and production requirements. 
• Day to day control of waste management. 
• Ensure that all additional work is identified and that the Project/Commercial Manager are fully aware of all potential opportunities.

 

Working Week

37.5 hours: Monday - Friday; 08:00 – 16:30 (depending on site) 
(1 hour unpaid lunch break)

• Science and Materials for Construction and the Built Environment 
• Health, Safety and Welfare for Construction and the Built Environment 
• Group Project in the Construction Industry

 

Other Information 

From the 1st April 2017, the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices aged 16-18, and those aged over 19 who are in the first year of their Apprenticeship, is set at £3.50 per hour. The NMW applies to time working and time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age categories above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.

 

Reality Check

You must be interested in undertaking a career within Construction. 

You need to be able to travel and possibly lodge throughout the UK. 

You must be flexible and willing to undertake site visits and be prepared to learn how the industry operates and appreciate how business maintains its competitive edge.
