Job Title:                               Fire Stopping Engineer (Horbury Property Services)

Reporting to:                        Richard Sutton

Titles of Direct Reports:     N/A

Normal Place of Work:       South Grove House, Rotherham

Normal Hours of Work:      40 Hours per week

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete fire stopping works in line with agreed specifications, industry best practices and current Group accreditations (e.g. FIRAS) on sites around the UK
  • Record all completed or surveyed work on the electronic systems provided ensuring systems are synchronised regularly and at a minimum of daily.
  • Work cohesively with other site trades and internal group companies, avoiding conflict and ensuring a harmonious relationship is achieved.
  • Ensure all installations maintain an efficient use of materials. Ensure all materials are stored safely and securely on site at all times.
  • Adhere to all local site safety rules.
  • Attend any required inductions, site meetings, tool box talks, training, company meetings.
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environment processes and procedures within the Safety Management Systems, adopt a pro-active approach to Health and Safety compliance.
  • Complete all required paperwork timely and legibly in line with agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with line manager on technical solutions for bespoke fire stopping when standard solutions are not available.
  • If the role involves the use of a company vehicle ensure the Fleet Policy is followed and all relevant paperwork or electronic reporting is submitted timely and to the required standard.
  • Occasionally take the lead on installations liaising with the Site and Project managers, organising materials, labour and inputting to the programme of works.
  • Achieve or better any personal performance measures set by line manager.
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as would be deemed reasonably commensurate with the level of the post.

Qualifications Required:

  • CSCS Card (Skilled Worker)
  • Passive Fire Installations (NVQ Level 2)
  • FIRAS Registered
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • IPAF
  • SSST
  • First Aid (appointed persons)

Skills Required:                                                                                                                                                                    

  • Ability to carry out fire stopping works to FIRAS standards
  • A good eye for detail
  • Ability to solve problems under own volition

Competencies / Experience Required:           

  • 2 years’ experience of installation and application of intumescent coatings, fire stopping systems and cavity barriers.
  • Experience of working on a live building site
  • Experience of working in a publicly occupied building
  • Previously completed work to FIRAS or similar standards
  • Successfully completed work on a ‘price work’ basis
  • Experience and willingness to work out of core hours and weekends.
