Purpose of the Role (Overview):

To carry out electrical repair, installation and testing works to buildings and installations in a variety of sectors and markets.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out electrical repair, installation and testing works as directed in line with BS 7671 latest edition, company policies, procedures, legislation, third party accreditations, contractual requirements and industry good practice.
  • Record all completed work and test results on the electronic systems provided ensuring systems are synchronised regularly and at a minimum of daily.
  • Work cohesively with other site trades and internal group companies, avoiding conflict.
  • Ensure all installations maintain an efficient use of materials. Ensure all materials are stored safely and securely on site at all times and van stock schedules are updated regularly.
  • Adhere to all local site safety rules, attend any required inductions, site meetings, tool box talks, training, company meetings.
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environment processes and procedures within the Safety Management Systems, adopt a pro-active approach to Health and Safety compliance.
  • Complete all required paperwork / electronic systems timely and legibly.
  • If the role involves the use of a company vehicle, ensure the Fleet Policy is followed and all relevant paperwork or electronic reporting is submitted timely and to the required standard.
  • Occasionally take the lead on installation/repair/testing work liaising with the Site and Project managers, organising materials, labour and inputting to the programme of works.
  • Achieve or better any personal performance measures set by line manager.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to ensure an effective and efficient service is maintained.
  • Maintain a friendly and customer focussed approach.
  • Undertake call out duties as and when required, with reasonable notice.

Undertake such other duties and responsibilities as would be deemed reasonably commensurate with the level of the post.

Qualifications Required:

  • Good level of education (e.g. GCSE’s in an appropriate subject related to the role)
  • Appropriate qualification in Electrical Work (e.g. City and Guilds, or NVQ) or recognized trade apprenticeship) and 17th Edition Qualified
  • Electrical Testing qualifications (e.g. C&G 2391, C&G 2395)
  • CSCS Card (Blue) and/or ECS/JIB Gold Card
  • Asbestos Awareness, DBS Checked (Standard)
  • Drivers licence

Skills Required:

  • Electrical Installation, repairs and testing works
  • Fire alarm installations and upgrades and repairs
  • NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor

Competencies / Experience Required:

  • Experience in FM, Repairs and Maintenance works within a live environment
  • Building Management System install and maintenance (or similar systems)
  • Experience of testing installations both new and existing installations.
  • Experience of working out of normal hours.
