Horbury Group Enters The Race For Bangers And Cash Fundraiser!

We are delighted to announce that we have signed up for the Bangers and Cash charity fundraiser, in aid of Sheffield-based youth homeless charity Roundabout.  Chief Executive Trevor Wragg and Chief Financial Officer Gavin Leverett will be joining over 20 other South Yorkshire companies in an exciting four-day road trip from Sheffield to Monte Carlo in a vehicle they have purchased for less than £650.

They will travel in a T-registration Jaguar, similar to one that Trevor owned in the early days of his career! The car will have its bonnet decorated by a Sheffield artist and the cars will be exhibited at the Winter Gardens in Sheffield over the coming months.

On 21st September, the Horbury team will set off in their ‘bangers’ on the 1,219 mile trip, in a bid to raise as much sponsor money as possible for the charity. The eyecatching bonnets from all the companies taking part will then be auctioned off to raise even more money for Roundabout.

Chief Executive of Horbury Group, Trevor Wragg, said: “I jumped at the chance to get involved in Bangers and Cash as I love cars, particularly old ones, and it sounded a really fun way to raise money for a fantastic cause. We’re hoping as many of our staff, suppliers and business contacts will be able to support us in our fundraising via our Just Giving page.”

Trevor and Gavin have taken part in other long distance drives for charity in the past, including Benidorm or Bust in which Gavin was driving a 15 year old Nissan Micra and Trevor was in a Porsche!

Clare Collingworth, Roundabout’s fundraising and communications manager, said: “We have over 20 local businesses involved already, but are still looking for more! We’re really glad that Horbury Group could get involved and wish Trevor and Gavin all the best for their road trip – we can’t wait to see the cars all liveried up!”

Horbury Group is a regular supporter of local charities and in 2017 raised over £50,000 for Work Ltd, a charity which provides life skills and occupational training for people with learning disabilities in Sheffield and surrounding areas.

Roundabout is Sheffield’s youth homeless charity providing shelter, support and life skills to young people aged 16-24 who are facing homelessness.

The Horbury Group consists of seven companies and provides a complete national service to the construction industry, including full building interior fit out, refurbishment and maintenance. The company has regional offices in Rotherham, London and Cardiff and operates nationally.
